Computer shutting down randomly, getting BSODs now.

I have an HP Elite 180t. Windows 7, 64 bit.

The problem started as random computer shutdowns, where the computer would completely lose power for no reason. It was like somebody pulled the cord. At first there were no error messages or BSODs. I simply had to restart and then it would work for a while.

It had been fine for the last two or three weeks, then it crashed again this morning. I could not get the computer to boot up. Then I started getting BSOD c000021a. HP told me I should do a complete system recovery. I backed up my data and did the system recovery. It completed the recovery but when it was booting after that I got the BSOD again. It went away so quickly I couldn't see the error.

I tried doing system recovery two more times and both times it quit in the middle of it. I don't lose power, it just goes to a black screen. I am completely frustrated at this point and don't know what to do.

ill keep the nerdyness out of this as nobody normally cares about it ^_^
c000021a errors are normally caused when userlogin/security can't be verified. windows then switches to kernal mode and boom bsod.
HP were half way right in telling you what to do, however most recovery programs tend to skip parts of the process and this is one of the things it tends to keep the same.
one option is to do a fresh install of windows if you have a disc or the other option is to boot the pc and press f8 before windows start. then at the prompt screen select advanced options and then select last known good configuration.
