Move/Resize Partitions in Single Internal HDD (Repartition)
Hi guys,
I just want to share a little success story with my first time repartioning a single HDD. I have only done partitioning in WinXP during installation and this is the first time I have done so within the Windows environment.
Before Move/Resize
What I wanted to do was, shrink (C: ) to 120GB and move the unallocated space to (D: ).
I came across a thread a while back with a similar goal as mine, where I remember it was Brink who directed the user to this tutorial for MiniTool Partition Wizard:
How to resize Partition for Windows Server 2000/2003/2008 or Windows XP/7/Vista with partition magic manager software? Move/Resize Partition Help.
It is a very straightforward 4-step process (with an accompanying video tutorial at the bottom), it is hard to go wrong.
After making my adjustments and clicking "Apply", PartWiz prompted me to restart my Notebook, because System (C: ) is currently in use. Upon restarting, PartWiz continued to do its job in Boot Mode:

As any first time for doing things, I was nervous, but the backup I created for my UserData (D: ) to an external HDD was such an assurance, in addition to PartWiz's "Enhanced Data Protecting Mode". An external backup can never hurt.
After PartWiz completed its operations, my Notebook rebooted to normal. Checking Computer, here are the new partitions:

Goal achieved and a new learning!
I hope someone benefits from this experience. We all know how valuable peace of mind can be in these situations. Thanks again to Brink and to the MiniTool Partition Wizard, great software. Good luck!
