Hello Supercrip,
You can download the latest official Windows 7 Professional or Home Premium without SP1 ISO file here: Microsoft: Windows 7 Direct Download Links, and use Windows 7 USB-DVD Download Tool to create a bootable DVD or USB flash drive with the ISO to install with. :)
For activation: If your product ID (product key) is from a retail installation disc, you can use that for activation with the .iso that you download from Brink's link. If, however, your product ID is from an OEM version, then you have to use the product key that is on the COA sticker. That sticker is usually on the back of the PC.
Sorry for butting in!
My OEM (Dell) disk is coming up to its 5th anniversary. I've a feeling that I might need a fresh install, folloerd by numberunguous windows up dates. Would a new down load get rid og that problem, and more?
It will make updating a little quicker since the ISO in Brink's link is an SP1 inclusive ISO, so it will save you on downloads.
A clean install is always a good idea when the computer gets sluggish, so it might help with whatever issues you are having.
Make sure you can read the product key on the COA sticker before you start:
Everything is here to get and keep a perfect Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7.
Be sure to read the Special Note for Dell Owners at end as there are some choices we can help you with.
