    Why does a word file created by me have an incorrect author's name

    Are you talking about MS Word?
    What is your MS Word version?

    Many thanks for that Megahertzo7, but my query was why an unknown person had been given as the author of a document I had created. My Word version is 2010.

    Did you see what is on the Word settings?

    Click File > Options >General

    Under Personalize your copy of Microsoft Office, type a new name in the User name box.

    Megahertz07, Thanks again for your trouble, but it seems that I have failed to express my concern clearly. ie. why has an unknown name appeared as an author of a document I have created.

    Did you created on your computer?
    Was it created from a template or edited from an already existing document?
    Did you try to create a new doc and see witch name is on it?
