Clicking on files move the columns in the folder...

    Hi,
I have this annoyng thing that i'm not able to change in windows 7 :
when i browse a folder (i have the list visualization) if i have many files what happens when the folder is not enlarged (most of times) is that i see 2 colums of files.
If i click on a file on the second column, that column move to the left, the result is all colums scrolls to the left. This is really annoyng when i just want to select a file and keep the visualization of the previous files in the previous column. Or when i double click to hear an mp3 on the second column, it scrolls.
Well... sorry for my english i hope you did understand the little issue wich is going on since few years, but now is time to understand how to change this behaviour in Win 7.
Any of you know the solution?

What view are you using? If you use details view then the folder contents should scroll rather than wrap.

I did a fast recording of what happens :
Click files move columns - YouTube
The first click is a single click, the second one (which is the most annoying thing) is a double click trying to run the .mp3 but instead the column move back.
So to run a file i have to click it when is on the first column...
I know the solution would be to change view... but i find myself well with this since... years!
There isn't any option to avoid this really bad function in windows 7?

Hmm, I notice on the video there seems to be one really long file name is each column. Have you tried setting the column widths wider instead of using auto? It seems like the one long file name is triggering the scroll somehow.

It is exactly what happens, if in the second column there isn't a file longer than the actual window size, it doesn't happen. Indeed if i use a full window i have no problems at all.
So i guess it's a little bug, no solutions then?

I haven't heard of any. Explorer is known for its quirks. There are many free alternatives. I've used FreeCommander for years. I use Explorer as first resort since it's always in memory so pops up fast. But if I'm going to do simple to intermediate level file renaming or sync folders I'll use FreeCommander

The 2009.02b version at the bottom of the page is complete. TheXE version does not have fully implemented features.

Also there are many others. Check any of the freeware sites.
