Problem on screen brightness adjustment(Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit)

Hi, I observed a problem on my new pc with windows 7.

When I try to adjust the screen brightness, the adjustment slider is always in minimum in Control panel>Hardware and Sound>Power Option, as shown in this picture

but once I go to the "Edit Plan Settings", the slider is in maximum position, as shown in this picture

I can adjust the brightness under the "Edit Plan Settings" but not in the "Power option". Something must be wrong here, does anyone know how to fix this? Many thanks!

Hmmm... That slider doesn't even show on my PC until I edit plan settings.

Is this a laptop? Is your screen dark?

If you can't adjust the slider on the Power Option window it likely isn't doing anything anyway. It might not be anything to worry about if your screen is operating normally. I know of no fix for it, but others might.

yes it's a laptop, the screen actually flashes when I tried to slide the slider in the power option. it worked perfectly fine on my old laptop.

The Brightness controls might be handled by a third party software installed by OEM. For an example my Lenovo y560 has an auto dimming feature that I had to turn off in the Lenovo System setting (Not Windows system) which was accessible via the "Intel Graphics" options after right click on desktop. There are more likely "Hot" keys or FN keys that also control the brightness. The matter that the control you show above does not respond or is not functioning does not mean the system is "Broke" but more likely just controlled elsewhere. If there is a question as to Where the hot keys or FN keys are you can download the user guide for your lappy from the oem website.
