    Thank you so much indeed,
Yes, I now remember that I installed K-Lite_Codec_Pack_1095_Basic' to let some video file formats, such as, FLV to be played well by Windows Media Player. However, I don't think that the problem with it. If with it, then what would I do since uninstalling it would result in FLV will not played well by WMP.
Any idea would be highly appreciated

I've been with MS since win95/NT NT's packaged client was Win95 so have also always dual booted. I honestly have never run WMP, as it was a security concern from day one.

You use VLC one of the best video player out, it's free but would appreciate a bit of support and will play just about anything; SWF files the only ones (require flash) I've found it won't. VLC will do just about anything (Stream, copy disk, the list is large) but most is undocumented and only found on a search. I've used it to stream to my PS3 (PMS) from my PC the easiest way to do so. VideoLAN - Official page for VLC media player, the Open Source video framework!

First Google hit using: IcarosDebug (and there are a lot of people with this problem)

"V. 10.9.5 doesn´t work. I get the message: Icaros terminated unexpectedly. A minidump has been written to disk. Explorer needs to restart... The minidump is in C:\Users\XXXXX\AppData\Local\Temp\IcarosDebug\IcarosPropertyHandler.dll-2.2.9.302-1.15.dmp. Windows 7." a reply to K-Lite Codec Pack Full Free Download and Reviews - Fileforum

I have Windbg (Windows debugger) as my Postmortem_Debugger now, waiting to catch the problem before this icaros debugger does, the error hasn't happened yet. As mentioned I get the message trying to access a hard drive or partition, can't see where any codex would be involved, I can see that I need to grab anyting on that drive as it's not going to last much longer, I have to access it from a Hiren's boot disk using a miniXP.

You can find IcarosPropertyHandler.dll at C:\Program Files (x86)\K-Lite Codec Pack\Icaros.
I have all my temp directories use C:\Temp My Icaros dump files are located at c:\temp\IcarosDebug

It would appear to be a problem with FFMPEG read the bottom of the "Icaros License.txt"

With Windbg I viewed one of the dump files the results below, it's an Access violation. the last three digits of the dmp file are the date.

    Thank you so much indeed,

For the above error, I really found out that 'K-Lite_Codec_Pack_1095_Basic' was causing it. When I uninstalled it, the no error was there. However, I need 'K-Lite Codec to let some video file formats, such as, FLV be played well by Windows Media Player. What would I do since uninstalling it resulted in FLV would not play well by WMP.

Moreover, Even installing 'K-Lite Codec Pack' resulted in giving me two Windows Media Players:

Note when I installed K-Lite_Codec_Pack_1095_Basic on my Windows 7 with laptop, then two Windows Media Player were there once when cliking 'right-click' on a video file, and chose 'open with', there were two Windows Media Player shown. Why???( screen shot below)

Any idea would be highly appreciated.

This was pre-written so before I saw your reply, but Autoruns is your answer just disable one, it's mentioned below - on the slim chance autoruns won't fix it, search (Google) for: context registry entries, at that spot you'll find the two listed, again just delete one. there are a lot of programs out to do this for you but of little value as it's so freaking easy to do by ones self. Hating to let this go to waste, it will allow you to run the K-Lite Codec Pack, and help others if they happen upon it.

Last reply was a knee jerk answer to your response, so a bit more info now.

I use the Event Viewer a lot and surprised to find I had events dating before the dmp files, I'll delete them after use to cut down the clutter. In the event file are application errors at the same times as the dmp files creation, reading:

    Event ID: 1000
    Source: Applicaiton errors

Faulting application name: explorer.exe, version: 6.1.7601.17567, time stamp: 0x4d672ee4
Faulting module name: IcarosPropertyHandler.dll, version: 2.2.9.302, time stamp: 0x54b2a303
    Exception code: 0xc0000005
    Fault offset: 0x00000000000088cd
    Faulting process id: 0x137c
    Faulting application start time: 0x01d04c90dee7d106
    Faulting application path: C:\Windows\explorer.exe
Faulting module path: C:\Program Files (x86)\K-Lite Codec Pack\Icaros\64-bit\IcarosPropertyHandler.dll

Windows has alway had this simple debugger, This one since XP replacing DrWatson.exe, aka drwtsn32.exe or dwwin.exe. I didn't look as I had assumed any entries already followed up on and deleted.
(tip: only applications and system are of value, right click on them and select "filter current log" then mark all but information, less crap and only entires of interest or concern are shown).

I use autoruns https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/.../bb963902.aspx it will find almost anything but a rootkit or buffer overflow. Nowhere can I find FFMPEG running, even with a search there and in Process Explorer https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/.../bb963902.aspx or anything related to it, Icaros, or Tabibito - While not actually running, Windows does load every Codex you have available.

Icaros shouldn't be running as I've replaced it with Windbg, and my suggestion on a fix if this has become a problem for you. Disable the freaking debugger, it's not working, and your using VLC so not a problem :). I've given a quick glance at the available options with the K-Lite Codec Pack yet haven't found a way to disable it.

The debugger is catching itself or IcarosPropertyHandler to be exact. Something might of brought it into action, yet it took itself down; being called by Win explorer, the reason Win Explorer is reset.

I'd create a restore point, export the registry key, then just delete this entry or all of it's values (you should have this entry due to Icaros Debug):
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AeDebug]
    (Win32 bit entry: HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AeDebug)
It holds the program and values of your (a) "Postmortem_Debugger".

    My entry reads:
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AeDebug]
    "UserDebuggerHotKey"=dword:00000000
    "Debugger"="\"D:\\MISGPRGS\\Debug\\windbg.exe\" -p %ld -e %ld -g"
    "Auto"="1"

That's the clean way, if still a problem just up and delete it - if renamed Win7 has a tendency of fixing it.
delete the directory (or all files within) called Icaros, it's path C:\Program Files (x86)\K-Lite Codec Pack\Icaros keeping it/them in ur recycle bin until your happy with the results.

BTW since replacing this entry with Windbg I can't access my partition, but no other problems just a green line showing Win explorer is working at it but "No debugging" issues or explorer resets.

    Thank you very much,
I am sorry but I really still don't understand why the K-Lite codecs was causing the problem, and uninstalling it solved the problem.
Also, I don't know why instlling K-Lite_Codec_Pack_1095_Basic on my Windows 7 with laptop gave me another Windows Media Player, so there were two WMP options when cliking 'right-click' on a video file, and chose 'open with', there were two Windows Media Player shown. Why???( screen shot posted before)

I am expecting that 'K-Lite_Codec_Pack_1095_Basic' is just 'codecs' which can be integrated with the program 'Windows Media Player', so no other option called Windows Media Player will be shown in the right-click' menu.
NOTE: FLV video files are form video file format, and not 'Flash Player'

Do you mean that K-Lite Codec Pack seem to cause problems in systems, from crashes to not being able to play some common (and natively supported ) media types at all. I was told 'to uninstall it and installingShark007 Advanced Codecs in its place. One thing: Please pay close attention to the dialogs presented by the Shark007 Codecs' installer, as it will try to trick you into installing adware. Just decline its offers or disconnect from the Internet before running the installer and you'll be fine.

If the crashing issue persists, perhaps there is a corrupted file in that folder that is crashing Icaros, or Icaros has a bug.'

Icaros I've always posted as the problem.

And I thought myself so on top of this one. I didn't use codec's all that much, and the error only happens when I attempt to access a specific partition. Gave it another try (it was/is to be a linux drive so still connected) and damn if icarosdebug didn't beat Windbg (it would as it's the problem), got the shutting down explorer and if I want a copy of the dmp file to my clipboard, clicked no and Windbg popped up, with a correct reading this time.

There is no error sound or any media being used at the time, if I were really serious about this icarosdebug I'd run Process Monitor but I don't have that need. Removing the icarosdebug directory my intent, but first I wanted to clear out the registry. Searching for icaros (with regedit of all things), I came across ape, flac, flv, mk3d, mka, mkv, mpc, ofr, ofs, ogg all entries that use it, at ogg I called it quits.

I don't need codec's that badly, VLC, the PS3, and my receiver all decode just fine, the PC used to play BattleField 3 (yes still), the reason I have a list of the extensions is I exported each key (a percaution, and none deleted), but it became too much to butcher the registry over when an easier way exist.

K-lite_Codec_Pack is a kind of an unofficial standard, one reason being the other choices ask too much of you. I'm sure your being tracked in some manner due to the install of your new codecs. It's the same with SUPER © Free Video Converter | MOV WebM MP4 MKV HEVC/H.265 VP9 | FREE Download Super's been around a long time but well I used to call it spyware and never actually got it installed as I do read the ToS's and Privacy Policies even when installing.

Well I tried to help you out, I did register just to answer you, as you had posted many places. I figure I came across them looking for a clue to icaros, which is to just uninstall the K-lite_Codec package.

As for the double entires just google the phrase I gave you, Windows is a very large progam. I've never installed the same OS twice, it's always different in some way. It happens.

My last output of IcarosPropertyHandler.dll (mostly to show windbg working now).

Which I had to remove due to the fact I type too much: The text that you have entered is too long (20743 characters). Please shorten it to 20000 characters long.

Well I can't say unistalling K-lite_Codec_Pack did the trick, but I can access my previously inaccessible drive (partition) now.

So did end up following the correct link for my problem.

This bug in Icaros was already fixed 5 weeks ago. The fix was first included in version 10.9.7. Everything should work fine with the latest version of the K-Lite Codec Pack, which is 11.0.1 at this moment.
