Not a BSOD but a persistent crash - please help

I've been having intermittent Windows crashes for 6 months.

Always a long-drawn out freeze where one thing locks up before the rest then all does.

This latest one was the OH opening a picture and then Chrome, before the desktop (bar mouse) froze up.

I see in the event manager this event, the freeze took place at 10:57AM and the manager broke down at 58.

Thereafter is a line of the same error about 8 times.

What on earth could be causing this?

I've checked memory many times, it's fine. What else could cause this?
