Windows 7 Certification

Has anyone heard about upcoming Windows 7 certifications? I know that the Vista and 2008 certifications came shortly (about a month, i believe) before RTM. If everything I hear is correct (and there is a lot to listen to out there), the RTM should be July/Aug, meaning certification should be available June/July.

i know on tech net they are putting up more and more resources for professionals but havent heard about certs yet, anyone else? remember, the new system isnt going to be deployed in business environments right of the starting gun anyway, there is going to have to be some in depth documentation and study trials first. no doubt they are working on it but havent had anything come my way. dont be surprised come the spring tech net events though, no doubt they will be tossing freebies to generate some enthusiasm.

As far as I know there is only one Windows 7 exam is avaialble Now. It is TS: Windows 7, Configuring Exam 70-680 (MCTS exam). 2 More Windows 7 exams should become live soon.

Pro: Windows 7, Enterprise Desktop Support Technician, Exam 70-685 should be Live on Nov 16, 2009 and you need to pass 70-680 to fulfill one of the certification requirements for getting the EDST7 title.

Pro: Windows 7, Enterprise Desktop Administrator, Exam 70-686 should be available next year in early 2010.

I took, and passed, the 70-680: Configuring Windows 7 Client exam while it was in Beta.

I also recently took the MCITP: Enteprise Desktop Administrator 7 exam in beta but dont have those results yet.

As you can see in my sig, I hold a few MS certifications.

Passed the 70-680 Exam Today!

I passed the 70-680 Exam. I used the Test King but Sean Odom's book MCTS Windows 7 Configuring (70-680) Exam Study Guide is the best. It was the only one available on Amazon so I took a chance. The test in the back of the book "Are you ready for the exam?" is pretty close the the actual exam. I got 790 but I think I would have failed it without reading that book.

As mentioned before a lot of the exams are still in Beta. We have them in prep stage at the moment and they will be offically released soon. More will be hitting the beta stages first though.

Mostly past knowledge of Windows plus utilizing the articles posted on Technet and other areas of MS website.

born2learn.mslearn.net is a good site to follow. They actually have a post up about a free ebook on Windows 7 deployment right now.

Plus, nothing beats installing the beta/RC versions and just playing with them.

Test King is a brain dump and is CHEATING. They are the actual answers to the test and can get you banned for life from Microsoft certifications.

Jordus,

Since you have a lot of Certs. What do you recommend for someone to take now to start with MS Certifications?

I took several Server 2000 courses a few years ago but never took the Microsoft Certification exams. Eventually I switch majors in college and never followed up on taking those certifications. Server 2000 certifications obviously are now old.

I still work in the computer industry though and would like to just learn on my own and maybe finally get a MS certification.

The Windows Vista client exam (70-620) is actually a very easy exam and a good "starter" test for those just trying to get a feel for MS exams. I realize that Vista isnt THAT used in the enterprise world and so the cert may not be overly desirable (especially now with 7 out) but its a good starting point.

70-270 (Windows XP) might seem like a good starting point, but its actually a very difficult test. 70-680 (windows 7) is not an overly difficult test, but it is very enterprise oriented so if you dont have a lot of experience in deployment, UAC, application compability, etc then you may have some issues with it.

First Microsoft certification.
I passed my first Microsoft certification today 70-680. I have to say it was a lot easier then I expedited. I'm sure the rest will be more of a challenge. I really just wanted to share my excitement. :D
