Restart doesn't actually restart nor does "Save and Exit" when in BIOS

    Hey,

I have a computer in the lounge which doesn't have an internet connection so the specs on my profile do NOT match the computer in question.

Basically, the computer has an AMD 6 Core processor, 8GB of DDR3 memory a single harddrive and a dvd drive, if I go into the bios and then choose save and exit on normal computer it saves and restarts but this one saves and powers down and then does nothing which pretty much rules out the operating system being the problem.

If I turn the computer off and then tell it to restart it will turn off but it doesn't start back up...

What could be the problem and how can I test/check the system to see whats the matter?

Any ideas would be much appreciated :)

Is there a bios update available?

    Have you tried updating it?

Any other problems with the system at all?

Questions on the above questions I asked you? Please ask

    Hey Andrew,

I just went and tried to see what the bios was, told it to restart (by accident) and it restarted correctly, so I went into the BIOS and pressed F10 (save and exit) and it saved, exited and didn't power up so the operating system restart worked that time, but the other way didn't.

The motherboard is: ASRock N68-VGS3 FX, the bios is "Default Bios" which says it's version is "0.2.67C" but on the motherboards website it doesn't even mention that BIOS version: ASRock > Products > Motherboard > N68-VGS3 FX > Download

EDIT: Forgot to say, no there are no problems really with the system other than Dropbox takes FOREVER to sync for an unknown reason but I'm going to reinstall the operating system sometime soon on a second partition to try and fix it :)

Again it's failing to restart, it seems to be intermittently working

I would find the appropriate bios file and download it to your system. Once the upgrade is complete, it should help things.

Alternatively, you can reach out to ASROCK support and see what can be done.
