    desktop icons not visible on reboot


    dark screen but I know they are there. did factory restore and it worked until I restored windows updates then the problem returned. problem started with a recent auto update for windows. aAny one with similar problem or resolution? thanks.

    Hello and welcome jojo mate make sure you set the updates (before you do another system restore as in my pic) then you can pick the ones you want to download and even hide them by right clicking on it and hit Hide.

    You might just be able to detect the culprit that way too. If it isn't really important just Hide it.

I've searched the internet trying to correct this and here's what I've tried, all to no avail: -made sure "allow themes to change desktop icons" is unchecked in "personalize" -arranged icons the way I wanted, right clicked on desktop, clicked "refresh" -unchecked "align to grid" -unchecked...
Plenty of desktop icons & shortcuts lay on the desktop. Want to assign them into groups rather than A-Z. But on reboot the disobedient gremlins scurry back to their old columns. Neat & tidy, but I want them to remain where I assigned them. Here is the setting I'm using -
Hello, I tried to find a solution to this problem online, but couldn't find anything concrete. Like I said in the subject, the desktop icons rearrange themselves every other reboot. Not every time, but occasionally and quite often, often enough to annoy me. I have a 30" screen 2560x1600...
Today I rebooted my laptop and when I signed on again all my icons on my screen were gone all the shortcuts and stuff! :( http://i908.photobucket.com/albums/ac290/CollieEntragian/blah.png
since upgrading from xp to win 7 I can no longer see the captions under my desktop icons. Tried the "restore" under personilaztion. Didn't help. Any suggestions? Myron
