Support for WINDOWS XP ending April 2014
When support for XP ends this April, I can understand that no further Security/Enhancement updates will be coming down the pipe. My question is this - If I have to reload my Windows XP SP1 system, will updates prior to April 2014 still be available to download & install. IE: Sp2, Sp3 etc.
Or does no support mean exactly that - zero updates available ever?

I would think that April will be a great time for Macrium Reflect. That will be my security blanket.

On other forums, people laughed at me for saving each and every Windows Update executable that I had installed for my version of XP over 8 years. My only concern is if Microsoft will still activate a fresh XP (re)install.

I agree that doing a fresh install and downloading all updates before April, then creating an image with Macrium Reflect and putting it on the shelf for a rainy day is the prudent way to go.
However, I still do not have an answer to my original question. -- Will previous updates still be available for download.

The end of support for XP just means that no NEW updates will be produced. XP activation, access to service packs, and Windows update (for existing updates) will continue to operate as before. In time Windows update will cease to work, probably because of an unsupported version of Internet Explorer.
Edit: Service packs and the updates themselves will be available from Microsoft for years to come.

Many thanks for that definitive reply.
