system win7 will not show HD activity after possible bump

this is a really cool forum for wisedom.....my roommate has a Toshiba l305 with win 7 32 bit installed. it has been performing perfectly with no signs of any kind of failure pending. in short, I powered it up and hd activity light will not light up. I think the laptop was bumped or hit by accident....where would you look to find the damage?

It does depend on how much of a bump the laptop received. If is was severe then the HDD may have been damaged & has failed.

Do you miss the Win XP networking icons that show activity?
I recently upgraded from a NetGear WNR3500 to the WNDR3400v2. The 3500 port lights would flash during send/receive, but the 4300 does not! (Someone with this same router let me know if this is normal). Since I no longer have any visual indication that data is actually being transferred, I...
