Not to hijack the thread but I was curious since I've never been to a pistol range. How do they ensure the customers don't get blasted by the boob in the next cube? Like, are the partition walls that thick or do they search your weapons to make sure you are only using light loads or what?

My advice dont go to a range, too many newbies since all the gun buying frenzy and its a high risk.
When I do go when the weather is raining, no cars in lot, I use the far right stall as most shooters are right handed ,and the untrained, tend to turn gun and body to the left when they have a loaded gun and forget its in the hand, pointing it to the left, instead of proper, downrange.
When entering observe all shooters actions before settlling in, and leave if any doubt of safety.


Some upper class ranges have bullet proof walls between stalls, not all as this isnt a rule..

At some ranges they only allow up to, not including 50 caliber, obvious as the 50cal. firearms are quite thick , large and LOUD..

All smaller calibers are ok for the most part, and its posted as to "no 50 cal allowed", or handguns only, no rifles at some ranges.

Also some ranges dont allow use of steel core,steel or bi-metal jacketed bullet as this can cause a spark and a fire, tested with magnet at desk when you pay, no steel restriction in my area, just some places do this.

Rapid fire is prohibited at most ranges, a rule here is 3 seconds between shots.



No search is done just a walkby from range officer.

And range officer is appointed, not state licensed/certified.
