Badly corrupted Registry and Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit Install
I apologize in advance if I have posted this in the wrong forum. It's just that in my opinion, my "problem" isn't really a problem as in only one. I'm so badly confused and frustrated now, that I don't even want to turn my PC on! Here goes what has been going wrong with my Dell Inspiron 580 Desktop PC, as briefly and clearly as I can state it. My computer has a 500 GB SATA hdd that is divided into two "Volumes." One Volume is partitioned to be 144 GB in size and has my Linux distribution of Mint as an OS on it. The second one, partitioned to be 350 GB in size, has my Windows 7 OS and all the other files on it that I have created since first installing Windows 7 on it. I no longer have my original installation disc. My Windows partition has become badly corrupted to the point where I definitely think I must uninstall my copy of Windows 7 and securely erase the entire partition - along with the Linux one. My second step would be to run a "Live" version of my preferred Linux OS (no installation on hdd needed to) until and only if I decided to deal with Windows again.
All I can say in addition is that when I went into Windows' Backup and Restore settings via the Control Panel, and tried to do a full system backup, it failed abruptly at the point where 80% of the folders and files had been backed up. All I saw displayed was the following message: "CRAIG-PC 2/12/2014 7:02 PM Drive 3 - Errors during Windows Backup." It completely hung up and I aborted the backup at that point. Also, when I run the latest version of CCleaner, it constantly shows the same infection again and again. I have attached a screenshot or log of the latest scan where the same exact virus showed up again plus two more.
In conclusion, is there any way for me to do another partial backup of only specific program and data files, other then the Windows OS-specific ones? If not, I'm really screwed, it seems. Thanks for any help you can give me, and I hope at least some of this made sense.
