When I try to connect to facebook.com from IE on my laptop, it doesn't connect. It just spins. But I can connect to facebook.com from my ipad. Any ideas why I can't connect using my laptop?

Try clearing out your cache. At the top of IE; click tools, then internet options; then look for something under one of those tabs(not sure which one as i dont use internet explorer) and under one of those tabs somewhere should be something that says clear temp or temporary files. Try clearing that, then rebooting the laptop and see if that works for ya. If not report back and we can continue from there.
In IE, I did the following: click Tools, Internet Options, General, Browsing History, Delete. I deleted Temporary Internet Files, Cookies and Website Data, History. Is that what you meant by Clear the Cache?
I also clicked Advanced, then clicked Reset to Original Settings. I rebooted. It still doesn't connect to Facebook.
I also tried connecting to Facebook using Safari. It doesn't connect using Safari either.
Is your laptop connected to the Internet at all? And can you browse other websites using your IE?
Yes, I can google, yahoo, do my online banking. But when I try to connect to facebook, it just spins, and it says facebook.com is not responding.
use https instead of the http in the address of the facebook, that is browse it this way, https://www.facebook.com/

A straight and easy solution is to downgrade your IE and re-install that version (or better, upper version) of IE on your machine. Then try browsing the facebook by that.
You might check your hosts file and make sure that has not been modified. C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\HOSTS
The original file should be around 824 KB. You can open the thing using notepad and confirm that all lines begin with '#".
Someone or something muddled mine once and I was unable to get to Wikipedia of all places.
Sometimes facebook does not open because there is a time lap, means reset the time of your laptop once again and then clear all the history and cache. I am sure facebook will work.
