    Declutter Win 7?

About a week ago, while I was downloading a Draftsight program from the net, my screen changed and said "OS missing". My computer skills are elementary at best, but I thought I could fix it with a Dell disk. I installed the disc and my OS upgraded from Win7 HE to Win7 Ultimate. I looked at the disk and realized it was to my older Dell Inspiron. I lost everything.I've been able to re-install several programs, but I'm getting an error 1406 while trying to install office 2010.

Although not fond of libraries, I use documents and pictures libraries. I'm not found of multiple users. It seems sometimes downloads end up in other users accounts, accounts I do not need. I am the only one who uses this laptop.

    So, here is my question...
Can Win7 be de-cluttered? or is there a simpler OS I could install? Should I just give up and pruchase another laptop?

You could try running a sfc/scannow to check for and possibly repair any corrupted system files. Heres a tutorial on how to do that if you haven't before : SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

Heres what Microsoft says about your error : You receive an error message when you install an Office program or open an Office program or document

As for "de-cluttering" ....... well, I'm not sure what you mean exactly. No need to have multiple accounts at all. I only have the one , mine. But you could follow these steps to optimize windows : Optimize Windows 7

I'm more "worried" about your "upgrade" to tell you the truth. Maybe you should just reinstall everything again and/or do a repair install. This tutorial has a link to a official microsoft download iso you can use instead of the older disc you have. Repair Install

    Thx-
I backed up the files and ran the same Windows OEM disc I think went to a different Dell laptop. This time it installed Win7 HE w/o issues. So now I'm reloading drivers and needed external soft software. THX for the help!
