exe files sent stripped of extension

A friend sent me a zipped folder, that contained files needed to install and run an application. To faciltate sending and security he removed the exe extensions.

I would ask him, but he is away, so I am here to find out how I may solve the problem. Neither trying to edit properties, nor renaming seems possible.

I hope you can help.

You can not simply rename the files adding the extension? Are you trying to rename them IN the ZIP file? If so, extract the files from the archive. Click the files in Windows Explorer, press F2 and type the file name along with the .EXE program extension.

After unzipping the file , in folder options check "show the file extension" and rename the file.

Can I hide files with a given extension
Downloading videos from my camcorder I get 4 files for each clip - the video file and 3 other files with the same filename but different extensions that apparently are required by the video editor. When you have several hundred clips that's a lot of extra files that you don't need to see cluttering...

Cannot rename files with url extension
The strange thing is, I was able to do it 1 time. I dragged a web address off and Windows created a shortcut. I was able to change the extension to .txt. The icon changed to that for a text file, and I could open the file and read it. Since then, though, the url extension does not show up. If I...
