MSConfig Boot tab does not allow changes

I previously used MSConfig and selected the Boot tab "Advanced Options" to change the number of cores allocated to Windows, now I cannot open the Advanced Options at all. The selection is not grayed out so it should be accessable. Basically nothing under the Boot tab can be modified, the other tabs seem to allow changes normally. Any clues to why the Boot tab features are locked?

Hello mfstein, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Double check using the tutorial below to see if it may help. By default, the Number of processors box should be unchecked.

Processors - Limit Number Used by Windows 7

Hope this helps for now, :)

That is the original procedure I used to change the number of processors, the problem now is I cannot access the "Advanced Options" at all to change it back. In fact, nothing on the Boot tab can be changed.

Does it just not open when you click on the Advanced options button in the Boot tab?

For now, you could also do a system restore using a restore point dated before you made this change to undo it.

Seems everything is working now. The only thing I did was boot while connected to my corporate LAN. Evidently my credentials were out of date or corrupt.
