Hmmm, burned the .iso to disk but it wouldn't boot. I'll look into creating a bootable USB with it.

Tried to use the Karpersky USB creation tool but it didn't like some files that it didn't name. Back to square one.

Well, attempting to create the Karpersky bootable rescue disk has been a complete failure. I have carefully downloaded the .iso twice, restarted my computer three times and then only tried to create the bootable USB drive getting this error most of the time, which is really quite useless.

Dwight have just found that thee is a problem with the Kaspersky server so it may be why you cannot get it properly.

There is this one but it will have to be made on another machine though. [Rescue CD] Tutorial for Avira Rescue CD - Tipps und Tricks - Avira Support Forum

I downloaded BitDefender and ImgBurn and created a bootable CD. It boots just fine in both normal and verbose modes but at the end of the bootup my monitor just does blank and the machine becomes unresponsive. In each mode I finally (after waiting about two or three minutes) had to reset the box. I'm not very impressed by these bootable solutions.

Well, it is apparently a known issue among some of the font aficionados having to do with settings used when the font is created (I think) using Fontlab. Since I don't have the application I am abandoning trying to "fix" it since the fonts were free. Thank you for all your help. [I did a search on sigma not equal square root font error.]
