    How to stop appending 'shortcut'

    Windows 7 Professional 64bit -Purchased

I tried a registry hack, no change. This 'feature' has been irritating me for YEARS in the different OS's, and I don't understand the insistence to not provide and option to stop it? Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Windows 7. You'll make my day with a solution - Thanks, IM

Zidane24 - When you create a shortcut to a file, Windows appends the word 'Shortcut' to the name. I don't want it to

    EXAMPLE
    _REL0187.NEF - Shortcut

lmao...I didn't think to search for a tutorial

...anyways Shawn your method works except the fact that link doesn't exist in the RTM...I had to make the registry binary myself

The automatic way will work as your reg file will just add it...the manual way in the tutorial will probably need adjusted
