Quick question regarding the Windows Support Fact Sheet posted by John. ( Thanks John)

In there, it states "* Support for Windows 7 RTM without service packs ended on April 9, 2013. Be sure to install Windows 7 Service Pack 1 today to continue to receive support and updates"

I hope this does not cover the our situation. My daughter and I both have Toshiba Laptops that came with
Windows 7 Home premium. They were originally both "Pre Service Pack 1" If either of us have to do a full System Restore from the recovery partition, will we still be able to download service Pack 1 and all subsequent updates?
    Many thanks all Cheers

You can always download windows 7 service pack 1 for free and install it, and then get Microsoft updates :)

A better alternative is to make a disk with service pack 1 already installed. This is called slipstreaming. You can download a legit windows 7 image here:

As long as this computer works, I'll use it ... with Windows 7.
When it dies I'll get a new one ... and the new one might run Windows 8, or 9, or 10. But Windows 7 will be history by then.

LOL. Just download the SP1 U media refresh iso of the correct edition and language.

You can update the install media quite easily. I do it regularly.

Plenty of tools will do it for you, this is nice and small
    WindowsPatchLoader_v1.0.15.zip

Or this one does more, it even deals with the iso for you, saves you doing that part manually.

Until sometime in 2019. I've already paid for three retail copies and I don't see in any point in upgrading until I get my money's worth from them, even if M$ comes out with a better OS than Win 7. The only exception is if my computer dies before 2019 and the hardware available then won't run on Win 7.

I have COA's for 3 vers of XP, 2 vers of Vista, 3 vers of 7, 2 vers of 8 and looking forward to 9. I recently moved my Win 3.11 and 95 media to storage, XP is still good for old equipment.

I have 8.1 on my LT and tablet, as I become more comfortable with this OS I'll move it to my desk tops. It is much faster than 7, very stable and with a "desk top" add-on, looks and feels like 7.

When I get a new pc this year. Just want to stay latest as possible.
I bought a new laptop last year when Win 8 came out. I wanted to make sure I got a laptop with Win 7 on it. I don't want to stay with the latest release but with the BEST release of Windows. == In answer to the poll, I doubt if I will ever have anything else on my PC. At some point I think MS will wake up and realize that they have a good thing in Win 7.

I've already moved on to 8.1 on all my PC's, but only because I have a free TechNet/MSDN subscription. Otherwise I'd still be running 7 on my two desktop PC's. My laptop and my wife's laptop came with 8 preinstalled. It wouldn't bother me to go back to 7 on my desktop if my TechNet keys expired. I'd have to relearn a few things but it wouldn't be the end of the world. 7 is a great OS.
