How long will you use windows 7?

I plan to use it for a very long time, maybe 10 years. Maybe 20 years. As long as it works for what I need.
I stuck with XP a long long time because I hated vista and win 7 just works so nicely.

As long as computer devices can run the OS well, why bother spending more money to continuously upgrade?
I read MS is moving to rapid os releases, and frankly I dont want to fall for that money grab.

I am already using os's to about the max I want to use them. I suppose if somehow WMC stops working with the HDTV, that would make me change my mind. But see, my greatest use of windows 7 is as theater PC's. I use ubuntu for web browsing and video rendering, etc...

Until M$ creates something that is at least equal to 7. If history is any indicator, Win 9 (or whatever they choose to name it) should be a contender. I'm not holding my breath.

Quick question regarding the Windows Support Fact Sheet posted by John. ( Thanks John)

In there, it states "* Support for Windows 7 RTM without service packs ended on April 9, 2013. Be sure to install Windows 7 Service Pack 1 today to continue to receive support and updates"

I hope this does not cover the our situation. My daughter and I both have Toshiba Laptops that came with
Windows 7 Home premium. They were originally both "Pre Service Pack 1" If either of us have to do a full System Restore from the recovery partition, will we still be able to download service Pack 1 and all subsequent updates?
    Many thanks all Cheers

I'm inclined to think that I may be using Win7 for a long, long time.
I stayed with XP until Win7 had proven that it was a real upgrade, not just something new to try.
I see no advantage to Win8 over Win7 for desktop use.
With M$'s apparent direction, I hold little hope that Win9 or Win10 will be suitable to my needs and wants.
I may finally have to switch to a Linux flavor.
I have looked at several of them, but find the transition difficult.
That might change with enough prodding.

I will use Windows 7 until something better comes along. As of now, Windows 8.x offers me nothing that I want or need, and indeed removes features from Desktop Windows that I really like.

I strongly believe that MS should have spun off a separate mobile OS from the Desktop. The whole Metro/Modern/Whatever 'experience' is worthless on a desktop setup, and in my testing of it, just knowing it was there behind the scenes was irritating. The 'apps' may be fine on a phone or tablet, but they are absurd on a desktop system.

Windows 7 is, for me, fast, stabile, beautiful. I really don't care for the flat look and big fat window borders of Win8.

But we'll see what Win9 brings to the table...

I'll stay on 7 until they have something worth upgrading to. I don't see that in the near future.

    A long time personally,
If Microsoft isn't careful Chrome os might pass them up much like Android devices passed up Apple
