Boot Time

I now have build 7600 of W7 x64 Pro installed, and for the most part, it is acting as expected, with one notable exception. It remains on the Windows Starting logo screen for ~60-80 seconds. Once at desktop, it hums along as well as always. This was not characteristic of the beta or RC of x64, but very similar to that of the x32 RC that I have installed on a separate drive.

The fact that this is occurring on two separate drives, with two different versions of W7, seems to eliminate the harddrives as the crux of the problem.

In both cases, I have tried selective and diagnostic startups with startup items and drivers disabled, with no noticeable effect. I'm not positive about x32, but with x64 this problem began with installation, before any programs or drivers were installed (except native drivers, of course).

I've been scratching my head, but I can't think of anything that I've changed between the various OS versions, except changing the MB and it's BIOS chip, but then the problem with x32 was the same with the previous MB/chip.

I've been scanning previous posts that the search found, regarding this, and I haven't read anything that seems to relate. Despite the fact that some people get good performance, I'm wondering if some change between the x64 RC that booted quickly, and now the RTM that is slow could be due to some change that MS has made in them?

7 was slow to boot for me to start with, are you running a CPU with multiple cores?

If so you can run msconfic and under the boot tab change how many cores 7 boots with that made it way faster for me!

Thanks, it was worth a shot, but it misfired. No change in boot time.
