2nd copy Flash crashes;disable doesn't help;want to delete it but cant
While this starts as a software question for Chrome, ultimately it's a Windows question.
Many have posted that Shockwave Flash keeps crashing in Chrome. Answers point to having 2 versions running, so go disable one. Done. Still crashing.
The disabled one now says enabled again, so something turns it back on, maybe Cleaner?
Chrome installs and updates Flash automatically so it's easy to have 2 if someother software installed Flash.
My solution? Go into Windows, find Flash, and delete it! I look at the path for the 2nd, nonChrome copy:
I go into c:/Acer/Windows/Syswow64/Macromed/Flash
But it won't let me delete it. I'm a one-user on the PC, Admin+user. I check properties on the 2 files, says Creator has permissions, I changed both to my name. Still won't let me delete.
1) wouldn't this get rid of the duplicate file allowing Chrome to update Flash to their heart's content?
2) why does Windows make it so damned difficult with this permissions thing?
