A Google search turned this up: Twig's Tech Tips: Win7/Win8: Remove Breadcrumbs from Windows Explorer
No idea how well this works,I like breadcrumbs. You'll like the article, even if you decide not to implement it.

Google search I did: disable breadcrumbs windows 7

    Thanks Anak :)
My bad. I should have included "ClassicShell" with my PC specs.
I have ClassicShell v4.0.4, installed, but only WinExplorer window "breadcrumbs" can be disabled
ie, [Settings for Classic Explorer x.x.x] dialog
    Title Bar (tab)
    [x] Disable breadcrumbs

    Hi strollin :)
What is it about them (breadcrumbs) you dislike?
Like ... boiled tripe (pigs stomach), boiled turnip, white sauce, MS ribbons, gravy out of a box, raw eggs, burnt toast, green fruit, Windows-Aero, shoes, soft beds, polyester underwear, lace curtains, synthetic sox/socks, passionfruit seeds, loud TV, cigarettes, drunks, cockroaches, hair on soap, toilet seat down, sand-in-the-budgie-smugglers, comb-overs, flowery wallpaper, hot food on cold dinner plates, 40°C days, beef jerky, MS-Notepad, seedless watermelon, cat-litter-trays, capless thumb-drives, long sleeves, HB pencils, black coffee, sugar-free anything ...
    ... I don't like them.

I use Xplorer2 instead of WinExplorer ... the former leaves MS WinExp in the darkages
As a developer every half hour I make a incremented copy of a development file.

For me breadcrumbs serve no useful purpose -- like man-boobs. They are just there !
Breadcrumbs are what people feed to pidgeons ... what is left on the plate when we are bloated (like Win8)

    Thanks ThrashZone :)
Had a look at the extras on Recent Search Box Suggestions - Enable or Disable ... but no luck
    Thanks anyway

You and I have done an identical Google search.
I did a search before starting this thread.
Plenty of Windows Explorer breadcrumbs ... no SaveAs breadcrumbs

Thanks to all for your contributions, :)

Heh Heh. You and I have got to sit in the park and people watch some day. I've got a feeling that would be freakin hilarious! Sand-in-the-budgie-smuggler! Had to look that one up. I'm stealing that.

Well, it's all well and good to try and see what you can and cannot do to customize Windows, you may discover something new.
But at some point along the way you might realize that the time and effort spent trying to keep things as they were could be better used to do something productive.

You're certainly entitled to like/dislike whatever you want but I can't understand why you say breadcrumbs serve no useful purpose. The ability to navigate directly to any folder in the tree isn't useful for you? As a developer, I am constantly moving around from folder to folder and the powerful navigation capabilities using breadcrumbs are something I wonder how I ever got along without in previous Windows versions. Exactly what useful purpose is provided by NOT having breadcrumbs?

If you can't find a way to turn that feature off, you could always right-click on the breadcrumb and select "edit address" which instantly replaces the breadcrumbs with the antiquated full path address.
