Restoring Your Operating System To restore the factory image of your computer using the system recovery media:
Insert the system recovery disc or USB key
    1. and restart the computer.
    When the DELL
    2. logo appears, press <F12> immediately.
NOTE: If you wait too long and the operating system logo appears, continue to wait until you see the Microsoft® Windows® desktop; then, shut down your computer and try again.
Select the appropriate boot device from the
    3. list and press <Enter>.
Follow the instructions on the screen to
    4. complete the recovery process.
This is from the Dell manual for a Dell Studio 1749. Here is the link to the service manual (PDF) from their site:

    ftp://ftp.dell.com/Manuals/all-produ...uide_en-us.pdf

That link was from this site: Product Support | Dell US

I have similar problem like in this topic: Repair your computer option not working (restoring factory backup)

Check the PDF manual link in my first post, page 65 and 66 talk about Dell's DataSafe local backup, that procedure doesn't mention a recovery disk.

Yep, i tried this procedure also, but after restart PC it crashes while Windows is loading files (0:31 in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CfAMEPIReww) with error: "Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause."

First of all I forgot to do this, Welcome to SevenForums DAsrek.

I'm not sure what to do next, I watched the youtube you posted.

The other post you referenced didn't have a resolution either, if it did the OP never posted back.

Why do you need to recover this computer installation, what isn't working?

Regardless of your answers to those questions I don't know enough to help you any more, especially without any recovery media.

Hopefully somebody will come along that can help more than what I've been able to, sorry DAsrek

If it was my pc I would be doing this. Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7
    My 2 cents worth.
