    decompress a compressed drive


    I compressed the entire c-drive the other day, and now I cannot turn on my windows anymore, only saw an error message "ADXRL is compressed, press ctrl/alt/delete to proceed", but it freezes at this stage and I just cannot do anything about it - is there a way to decompress the drive without opening up windows or using a win7 installation CD (as it's nowhere to be found….)? Any ideas??

    Boot into System Recovery Options from the Win7 installation media or System Repair Disk to run System Restore to before the problem occurred.

    If that doesn't help then try BootMGR Compressed Message at Boot Fix

This is probably a really stupid question. I have an avi that is compressed with XviD. I know that compression of a video is meant to make the file smaller, but can also reduce quality. Is it possible to "decompress" the file and would it make any difference in the quality of the video?
