no desktop

    no desktop


    shrunk c drive to create another partition. I moved some files thier, & later deleted files,volume.extended c drive. upon restart I get z drive can not be found. how can I restore desktop???????

    Do you see win7 startup logo on boot? Are you logged on? What is Z (what should it be)?

    yes.
    Are you logged on?
    What is Z (what should it be)?
    z was the extended partition I deleted. I fear desktop was on that drive

    So you are logged on?

    Create a new shortcut or a file on the desktop. Can you saev it on desktop? Rightclick on it and check the properties. Where is it physically saved?

    There's NOTHING on desktop? Not even the waste basket

    I right glick on desktop new folder . no go. yes Ihave icons recycle bin user folder & computer

    My documents, my pictures, my video.... all is fine?
    Folder c:\users\<your name>\Desktop exists? Can you see files in that folder? Can you add files to that folder?

    In registry go to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders
    and
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders

    What is the value of "Desktop" in the right pane?

    all are good except desktop no folder. go to start, right glick desktop. error points to a place un-avaiable.
