Unable to access files and documents from the Start menu

A few weeks ago I allowed Windows to perform a bunch of updates. Now I'm unable to access any file or document on my computer when I type the name in the search bar. I get a Windows Security message "These files can't be opened. Your Internet security settings prevented one or more files from being opened." Any help would be appreciated!

    Hi Susan8231,

    try this,

    1. Create another user (admin)
    2. Switch to the newly-created user
    3. Run regedit
    4. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings
    5. Right-click -> export to a public folder or root dir
    6. Switch back to your original account
    7. Remove the the above keys
    8. Run the exported .reg

    OR

You can try this, if you are facing a similar issue.

Hi Archer, thanks for your reply. How do I make that exported folder public?

You just need to copy the folder to the root.

Here is how you can set your root directory. MCCI :: How to Locate the System Root Directory in Windows

Copy the folder here. You will be able to access it.

Sorry, I replied and thanked you for your help. I don't know what happened to my post! What worked was your suggestion that started with creating another user.
