Coming out of sleep mode-have to switch KVM chan

ok...something that i've found a little odd...when Win7 comes out of sleep mode after i've awakened it with my mouse, my monitor doesn't turn on unless i switch to another channel and back again on my KVM...

Does your display model number show up in the device manager, or is it a generic device? If it's generic, try to find and install drivers for your monitor. See if that makes a difference.

Have you tested your system without the KVM, to completely rule out anything else causing the issue?

Remember that this isn't XP - it's Windows 7. In order to isolate the problem to the KVM, you need to remove it and make sure everything works without the KVM installed.

sorry, this is my very first experience with anything past XP...i'll move the monitor straight into the machine. i wonder why 7 would have an issue with a KVM...?

just swapped out the monitor cables and put it to sleep...works fine. woke back up and monitor came on...

would W7 have an issue with being in a particular channel on the KVM? or does W7 have issues with KVMs? or at least older ones...

There's a white paper about 7 and KVM switches. It might be worth a quick review.

There's also another thread about KVM switches on this forum.

Keyboard & mouse not recongnized on KVM switch

It might be that 7 requires a bit more than your old KVM switch provides. Is it possible to borrow a newer USB type KVM switch for testing purposes?

unfortunately no...nobody i know uses a KVM...i feel like i'm the last of that breed...but its nice when switching back and forth between my server, gamer and work laptop...and its tough to find a good cheap 4port KVM...i've been drooling over some of the USB KVMs tho...just don't have the $ to do it...

i'll have to check out those other threads you referenced above.
