    How to control startup programs

I would like to find out what programs start when I boot up and how to select which ones do. I think some are always starting that I rarely use and I want them to start only when I click on their shortcuts. In XP there was a start menu that showed this, but now I have Win 7.

clicl start, type run, then type msconfig in the box and hot enter.

a window will open, then click the startup tab. there you can select or deselect the programs you wish to start on startup.

personally I untick everything, that way youll have the fastest boot possible. :)

The easiest way to control them is with WinPatrol. That is also a very useful program that protects your registry.

With WinPatrol you can also very easily defer the startups. But you really only need the AV program and those that you started yourself - e.g. sidebar (gadgets). All others can be disabled.

CCleaner is another easy way to control startup programs.

I used MS Config to view my startup programs. I will decide later, after reviewing the list, what I don't want to load. Thanks for your help!
