    Problem after changing motherboard

    Hi all,
Today I tried to change my motherboard over to a AM3+ socket one and install a new AMD CPU.
I created a backup image file on a external drive. So I performed the sysprep and upon turning the system back on I got an error message:

Windows could not finish configuring the system. To attempt to resume configuration, restart the computer.

After reading up on this, I found it was common. One solution was to use my installation disk and repair the computer. I thought this worked as I can now login to Windows. However when I do, if I try to click on Computer I get an error saying:

The server process could not be started because the configured identity is incorrect. Check the username and password.

I could not find a definitive answer for this, and that's why I'm posting.
Could I use the backup somehow?

Another method is to apply your last image using it's boot disk, then Adjust Win7 to boot on new hardware with Paragon Adaptive Restore CD

You can first see if it will start without adjusting as sometimes happens.

    Thanks for the quick reply.

I tried booting into my external drive and get the same result - Get into Windows, but cannot do anything.
That Paragon download is kinda big for me to download right now (<1Mbs connection ) but I'll try it later and post my results

Why were you trying to boot into external drive? This is rarely possible. You should use a boot disk to try to apply an image to a cleaned HD from your external drive.

Ok, so I followed the Paragon thing on my C drive. Still get:

Windows could not finish configuring the system..

What am I doing wrong here?

You should have the Paragon disk in your DVD drive before starting your boot. This will bypass any problems in Windows. Follow the instructions for getting the disk in message 2.
