directory path in application save not found in windows explorer

I have an application that has a default path for config files, if you go to save or load a config file it comes up with it by default. However, I can't find it just showing in a win explorer directory tree or win explorer searching for it!!!!
how could this happen? how can I find the real file system / operating system path?

In the pic the save dialogue box path is: C\ProgramData\......

ProgramData is a protected system folder and is by default hidden. To show it you must either enable showing hidden system files and folders as told in this tutorial, or for a quick one time access type %ProgramData% in Explorer address bar and press Enter:

directory path in application save not found in windows explorer-2014-04-10_00h11_00.png

Doing this shows the content of the ProgramData folder even though the folder remains hidden.
