Does SystemManager tell u wha remained installed after system restore?

OK. Complex situation: I did a bunch of W7 updates today & I included a Samsung driver for my S4. The phone was charging via USB. BAD idea: W7 tried to install a developer tool for Kies (which I don't have) & gave me the CDC abtract control mode error. ups.

Bottom line: PITA to clean that up (Sammy & MS not good friends), easier to do a W7 system restore. Except Bitdefenders antivirus won't let me, even deactivated. Had to do it in safe mode. finally worked.

Finally, W7 told me this time the restore went ok. I looked in the "installed programs" & nothing from today was there anymore. so far, so good. I re-installed the security updates, being VERY careful not to add anything optional. The one from Samsung, w/o the phone connected tr/USB, didn't even show up. great.

However, after I rebooted again, I went back to system manager and I see all the records of all updates that were installed, including the Samsung S4 update!!! WTH? Is systemanager oblivious that all that should have been wiped out by the restore (meaning the record does not reflect the post-restore state of the system) or did Windows re-install the dreaded Samsung drivers and optional updates behind my back? I know the Samsung drivers were not even in the list the second time around.

Was the updated app (from programs & services) lying to me when it tells me "nothing from Samsung was installed" or is system manager unaware about the restore that I did? Could it be that what happens in safe mode stays in safe mode, like Vegas? Who do I believe? ProgramManager window or SystemManager? Is it just me or is it kind scary that those two records don't match?
    Thanks!

Once you install an update, it is on the record. System restore does not change that list. You do not have that update.
I know from several sources, including the fact that it happens to me.
