Need help creating a bootable system repair disk

When I attempt to create a system repair disk to be able to boot my newWIN 7, if it fails to start I am unable to on my new Win. However, when I follow the steps to create the disk I get a popup telling me windows repair disk has stopped working correctly - a problem has caused the program to stop working correctly. I have also tried the recdisk command in Run and it tells me recdisk cannot be found. I think I am running windows as Admistrator but am not really certain.

Can someone assist me with this problem?

Hi Mary, Have a look at this post here, you'll see that recdisk should be typed in the cmd window not the run box.

If you are using this method:

    System Repair Disc - Create

And then get that error, you can try creating the Repair Disk from the Command Prompt from System Recovery Options or Advanced Boot Options screen in Windows 7.

    Command Prompt at Startup

In the command prompt type recdisc> Enter

You should get a popup with options to choose which drive letter to create the Recovery disc to.Make sure to have a DVD in the drive and select start. This should then create the Repair Disk. A Guy
An alternative would be to just make an install disc which will function as a repair disc as well.

You can download your version from here,

Windows 7 Direct Download Links, Official Disk Images from Digital River

Then use one of these methods to create the disc,

Burn Disc Image - ISO or IMG file

    Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool

The upside to having an install disc is it will always come in handy.
