    the meaning of unusual hard-drive-icons


    When I open Computer in Windows Explorer, the icons for any hard drives are usually the same. I'd like to know the significance of the icon for the drive labeled as 'Local Disk (D)' in the attached file.

    Looks like a shared drive. Change the view so it`s bigger.

    If you unshare it, it will look just like E:

Hard Drive Icons with autorun.inf

I have a few external hdd's that used to show an icon using autorun.inf. Suddenly it stopped showing up a while ago. I was under the impression it was something to do with MS doing something with autorun but apparently that's not the case as my friend with windows 7 still has his icon. Any one...
I have just begun to use the windows 7 software. When I open a document folder the Word file names have an icon overprinted on the blue W. The 2 most frequent mystery icons are: - a green circle w/ white check mark - a red circle w/ a whit "i" Also found on excel files & picture file...
I just noticed today that on my external harddrive my WD Icon no longer shows up. I haven't changed the file and I have even made one for a different harddrive and that doesn't show up either. Just the default drive icon Any ideas?
