    1. No the operating system version is tied to the motherboard of the machine it is installed on, for the other machine you need another licence..
    2. You can reinstall using this tutorial as long as you pick the correct version of Windows and use the original activation code.
Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 or if you buy a new OEM or retail disk.
    3. Yes you can do a what is called a dual boot but why would you want to??
Dual Boot Installation with Windows 7 and XP
    4. It will last for some time yet it is just getting harder to find versions of 7

Well I say harder it certainly isn't being promoted by Microsoft because they want us all to have Windows 8 or whatever they come up with and 7 is I suppose you could describe as "outdated".

So most all machines sold preinstalled these days that I have seen come with 8 and one needs to get hold of a version of 7 (or a key activation code) to install it on a machine.

There is a tutorial that describes how to do that and there is a site where one can download an official version as an ISO that you put on a disk or stick and install from it but you will need that activation code to be able to do it
See this Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7

The XP well if you like it just do the dual boot - personally it is too slow and pedantic for me now.

Raied that is the site in the tutorial and the only one you should use.
I am not sure if downloading form Microsoft for this purpose is allowed they will want money and if you have the original activation code then use that site quoted. See my pic and don't download anything but the original version you have as it will throw up a non genuine product if you sya download the Professional version whine the original is only the Home premium version.

1.) No - one license per pc, unless you bought the windows 7 home premium family pack-which allows 3 installations per one product key. They are not available anymore.

2.) You can download them at the digital river official Microsoft site where they have untouched Iso files: (You will need a product key to activate)

Official Windows 7 SP1 ISO from Digital River « My Digital Life

3.) No, Windows 7 professional and above is required. However there are other options, like vmware player.

4.) Windows 7 support ends in 2020. See product life cycle link here:

For Q3, the OP is asking about XP Mode on W7 Home Basic...
    ...the answer is no.

Yes, the OP could dual boot...
...but the OP did not mention having a valid XP key?

And to answer the OP about XP's safety...
    ...no, XP is not safe
...XP Mode can be frozen - thus a bit safer.
