The Vista drivers should work fine.

What do you mean you can`t download them ?

    What is stopping you ?

The Windows install should detect and install the relevant drivers automatically.

Hello and welcome Micro mate some system specs would be helpful as we need to know what hardware you have for example.
System Info - See Your System Specs

    Another option is this

    Using HW Info

DownloadHW Info and pick the right bit version - HWiNFO, HWiNFO32/64 - Download -(copy and paste this site into the search bar) If you do not need the runninginformation in the smaller right hand panel close it. In the left hand windowclick on the + for the individual device groupings and they will open out tothe various components.

Goon opening out further until you get to the device itself. click on it and itwill highlight. In the right hand window there will be a very detaileddescription of that device as in brand, speeds model number etc etc These arevery detailed and are just what is needed for searching for drivers etc.

Seemy pic for an example - in this I have opened out my memory and thenhighlighted one of the sticks and you can see the detail.

You said you installed 7 over the Vista but personally I would have saved what data I needed and do a clean all Disk - Clean and Clean All with Diskpart Command or a disk wipe with Partition Wizard Best Free Partition Manager Freeware and free partition magic for Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows Vista and Windows XP 32 bit & 64 bit. MiniTool Free Partition Manager Software Home Edition. see my pic - to make sure that the drive was absolutely cleared of any residual Vista stuff.

There is no Win 7 sp2. What OS are you trying to update?

The framework error should be solved by running windows update until all available updates are exhausted.

Since Vista drivers are the latest available, try running them in compatibility mode, Compatibility Mode

Which will mean you have have to save them to your computer before running them.

After install you should be getting your drivers first from Windows Update, after enabling Automatically deliver drivers via Windows Update (Step 3). You may need to install your LAN driver to get online.

Check for Updates, then install all Important and Optional Updates, with reboots, until there are no more offered when you Check for Updates again.

Only then should you import any drivers still missing in Device Manager, from the Support Downloads webpage for your model PC or device.

There are more tips here to assure you get and keep a perfect Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 which are the same for retail.

Did you check if Win7 that came on the PC was a legal install with a retrievable Product Key? This is worth at least $100+ so is worth checking first before reinstall so you don't waste an expensive license unnecessarily.

I am with Greg here and also a little confused as I was under the impression Micro was installing 7 over the Vista so why are we raking over Vista stuff?
The other thing that crossed my tiny mind was Micro is attempting a dual boot??

The computer was originally sold with Vista John, when the OP bought it it had win 7 installed on it.

The newest drivers available from the manufacturer are for Vista.

For reasons unknown, the OP is reinstalling win 7 over the previous win 7 using their own version, but is having trouble with the Vista drivers.

I don't think there is a dual boot involved here, just the trouble with the vista drivers from Dell.
