    Can I upgrade my vaio?

    Hi,
I have a Sony Vaio VGN-FE890 downgraded with windows XP.
I want now to go to windows seven, but in sony site says that it has drivers just for vista.
I had some drivers trouble using XP and wouldn't like that this occurs if I change my OS to seven.
Did someone that has this model of notebook using it and 100% working fine?
Or does someone knows if there is a way to do it?
    Thank you.

Most likely you are able to Still Upgrade even if you have Vista Drivers..(I say Most likely becuase I am not 100 percent sure).. I would Call Sony Support and see if the Vista Drivers are able to run in Windows Seven..They should have an ansewer..

    Hope This Helps..

    Can I upgrade my Vaio

I upgraded my old HP zv5320us from XP to Win7 and havent had any problems with drivers. And was told that Vista Drivers were more compatible than the XP Drivers.
Also, I bought my Family upgrade at Office Depot and was told that they would do a free install on my 3 computers no matter where the Windows 7 OS was bought.

    Good Luck
    I love my upgrade

I upgraded my Vaio (clean install) even though Sony "claims" my computer won't work with 7...it's really just to keep themselves from having to deal with customer support...

Here's the dealio...If there was anything specific that I needed to get working, I went to the MFG website (not Sony). However, I have yet to get any Sony specific stuff to work (funciton, s1, s2, eject) though I think that's more to do with my incompetence.

All that and all you wanted to hear was...Sony Vista drivers will work on Windows 7, and they will likely release "Windows 7" drivers eventually.

    Hi

I agree with the poster above. I ve put Win7 on my sisters and my Vaios despite the advise on the esupport site to the contrary. All the drivers for Vista should work...run it in compatibility mode for Vista as an admin.

As for getting the FN keys working, i had a similar issue. There are folks who have kindly posted their trials on the forum. Just do a search and you will definitely find the answer.....u need to install the drivers in a certain order. I have an NR series and in that it was "Shared Library" followed by "Notebook Control Unitiliies"

    Hope it helps

I've seached...everyone has a different opinion on order. I've tried about all of them and still haven't gotten anywhere. I won't give up, though.
