If its The password prompted by Repair CD shown on the screenshot I posted then proceed with the steps I gave you. Or Did you plan to just ignore the steps I wrote out for you?

If its under warranty then I would call Acer if you're unable to interact with steps which we use here. We can resolve any issue if there's cooperation.

You need to install Rufus to write Peppermint to stick. If it doesn't do it try Yumi.

Also in post 18 above I gave you a link to write the Win7 installation ISO to stick Or disk. You can use that to Copy & Paste - in Windows Recovery Console and also repair without a password -which you just ignored as though I hadn't taken the time to write it all out for you.

Then I'd go ahead to do the Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 which is infinitely better than Factory Reset.

Wherever you downloaded and saved the iso file. :) Can't help you much there, we can't read minds to see where you saved it. Check the users folder and then the downloads folder. It is most likely in there.

Is there a HD or Removable choice you can expand to see the stick to choose it?

What exactly did you write to the stick and how? Peppermint to rescue files? Windows 7 ISO using MS Download tool?

Will stick boot in another PC?

Can you move the HD to another PC to copy the files out? Then wipe the HD with Diskpart Clean Command to move it back to the Acer and the installer should autostart.

    hello

    Hi again
how would i move the hd to another computer to transfer files is that with the blue plug
    and just connect them together.

the only options that come up when i try and boot with my usb
is compact flash that makes any sense

also i have got the rufus peppermint and the windows tool and iso on usb that you advised me to do

    thanks

Did you select Compact Flash? That sounds like the stick.

I don't know why you can't perform any of the steps. Are you clicking on the blue links to read how each step is done?

Did you try Copy & Paste - in Windows Recovery Console with your Win7 installation media from stick? You would download Win7 Home Premium x64 SP1 English Official ISO download then write to stick using Windows 7 USB-DVD Download Tool browsing to the ISO download to write it to stick.

The tap the Acer F12 key to choose the stick to boot. It may be listed under hard drives, Removable or USB. It should show up if you wrote it correctly.

Try running a few Startup Repairs from System Recovery Options, then System Recovery to your earliest restore point.

If repairs fail then you'll need to reinstall. You have two methods to rescue files using a boot disk. You can also move your HD to another PC to rescue files.

You would need to take adequate static-electricity shock precautions if you work in the case. Don't touch any electronic components without first touching the case, and don't work on carpet.

You can detach the hard drive carefully and plug it in to another PC's port of the same type. Then make sure that PC remains set to boot its native HD and boot into the OS to copy out your files. While there I'd also test the hard drive's condition with maker's HD Diagnostic.

Then return the HD to its case, boot the installation media to Clean Install Windows 7 deleting all partitions during the booted install in Steps 7 and 8. Create new partition, format to reinstall.
