Windows 7: Windows 7 Home Premium won't boot

Windows 7 Home Premium won't boot

I want to thank everyone who tried to help me with my Windows 7 boot problem, even though nothing suggested (short of re-installing) has worked to get me past the Windows welcome message. I'm going to show this thread as closed, so as not to bother anyone any further. As this is my backup computer, I'll keep trying different things on my own to see if I can figure out what the "...Unspecified changes to system configuration..." might be. I made a Hiren's Boot CD to use to try different things. Eventually I may have to bite the bullet and do a re-install, if all else fails. Thanks again.

You are not bothering us, this is what we do. There's no reason to mark a thread Solved which is not really solved as it helps no one. If you will work with us then we will not give up until your issue is resolved as we've done for tens of thousands of others who will work with us.

If you need more help to perfom any of the steps then ask back all the questions you need.

Since marking Active to run the Repairs didn't help, I would next try the bootrec commands in Step 7 of Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Start as these can sometimes prevail when the automated Startup Repair doesn't.

Another thing that can help us greatly to help you is to see a picture of Disk Mgmt. Since you can't boot into the OS, if you'll download Partition Wizard boot CD, rightclick it's ISO to burn to a new CD with Windows Image Burner, then boot it and take a camera snap of its drive map and listings, our chances of helping you based on thousands of other cases like this improve.

Please tell us which was the Linux partition and what is on the other partitions as best you know.
