Unable to take screenshots, use the snipping tool, etc.

After restarting my computer a few days ago, I found that I was unable to use the snipping tool. Whenever I attempt to use it, my entire monitor turns to a gray color, and some of the text on the tool itself is blacked out. I attempted to take a screenshot instead, but images do not copy over, so I cannot paste them. I attempted installing some photo sharing programs, and none so far have worked. They usually give me a black square instead of an image. I have not installed anything recently that would explain this, and I would appreciate some advice. (My computer uses Windows 7 at the moment.)

    Welcome to the forum bruhahablue,

Please run the System File Checker that scans the of all protected Windows 7 system files and replaces incorrect corrupted, changed/modified, or damaged versions with the correct versions if possible:

And let us know the results.

It says there were no integrity violations found. And thank you!

    Alright.

    Please upload your msinfo file.

    MSINFO32:
    • Please go to Start and type in "msinfo32.exe" (without the quotes) and press Enter.
    • Save the report as an .nfo file, then zip up the .nfo file and upload/attach the .zip file with your next post.
    • Also, save a copy as a .txt file and include it also (it's much more difficult to read, but we have greater success in getting the info from it).

Thanks. Please follow the tutorials below.

    Reduce items at start-up:

    Perform a clean boot:

Also run Scan with Kaspersky TDSSKiller:

    and ESET online scanner:

Run Disk Check on your hard disk for file system errors and bad sectors on it:

Could you also post a picture of the problem?

Check for updated graphics drivers as well.

    Nvidia, AMD

If you are not sure on the graphics card you have, you can use this tutorial which will tell you:

System Info - See Your System Specs

Did you install any hardware or software when this problem occurred?

Thank You very much! I went through the links you provided, and everything was cleared up after scans and a disk check. Unfortunately I had to go yesterday and was unable to respond until now. I am happy to say that the snipping tool is working again, as well as my print screen function.

It appears I've spoken too soon, they've gone back to not working.
