    splash.exe suddenly appears

Splash.exe has appeared in Notification Area Icons. Splash.exe is not listed in Programs list. I've read various pages on what it is. My first question, though, is why did it just recently appear? And, even if I wanted to get rid of it, there is no listing for it, just that Notification Area item.

Yes, already read this. But I do not have, nor have downloaded recently, anything related to those companies or products.

Do a search of the HD for the file. Find what program folder it is in.

Thanks. It is being used for a portable app I have and which I recently ran again after a couple years. Solved.

Yes, splash.exe never appeared again. AFAIK, it's not harmful in any way. It's just a by-product of the process of making an application that was designed to be installed into a portable one.
