    Telnet Missing in Windows Features

Hello! I was trying to turn on my telnet for the first time in my netbook running Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit, but I couldn't see the check box for it in Windows Features.

Here's a screenshot of my Windows Features:

See? No telnet. Any idea how to fix this? Or any other way to get my telnet turned on? Please help! Thank you.

It might be on the windows install disc. But; then again; there is also a chance that microsoft did not include it in the releases of windows 7 as quite a bit of people use other programs. etc. to access what telnet could.

    Is windows fully updated?

That whole window seems to be pretty sparse regarding features, specially for Ultimate.

    You can try this,

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

But you may have to resort to this,

    Repair Install

How did you get Ultimate on a netbook, was this an upgrade or clean install?

I believe you are correct direk. My Pro has 23 listings and I would think that Ultimate would have at least that many.

    Possibly a bad install.

I was recently having the same problem and was really frustrated because none of the solutions I found online worked. Luckily, one of our support personnel had a solution, which I am now sharing with you:
    Code:
    fsutil resource setautoreset true c:\
    cd %SystemRoot%\System32\SMI\Store\Machine
    attrib -s -h *
    del *.blf
    del *.regtrans-ms
    cd %SystemRoot%\System32\config\TxR
    attrib -s -h *
    del /q *
Then reboot and the checkbox will appear when you attempt to Turn Windows features on or off.
    Kind regards,

Looks like the OP may have used a "custom" installation media created by tools such as NTLite or WinToolkit which can remove features, etc. Just a guess.

EDIT: Oops just noticed the OP is from 1 1/2 years ago.
