Anyone regret moving to Windows 7?

I don't regret going to Windows 7, this machine came with Vista installed and I never had any problems and I liked using it and still would be if I hadn't been able to afford Windows 7, but I like to have the latest so Windows 7 is it.

There is still an XP in the house that I have to keep check on and I have a dual boot system with Vista and 7 but apart from when I first installed it and was getting files transfered I haven't gone back into Vista yet.

I will eventually disregard the Vista install and just have Windows 7 on here, so no I certainly don't regret going over to it.

Hell no. Haven't used my Vista install hard drive since I installed 7. Thinking seriously about wiping the vista install from that drive and using it for something else.

I have the original factory restore disks for my laptop so if/when I ever sell it. I can put the original vista back on it and keep my copy of wonderful 7.

I liked Windows 95 -- Windows 98 was to me a bit like the "XP===>VISTA" where W98 was Windows 95's "Vista upgrade".

W2000 (or W2K) was far far better and the first really useable corporate network system -- Windows NT was a disaster - we called it Windows No Thanks or Windows NeanderThal.

Ms has made some real dogs in Windows versions - apart from Vista. I think Windows Millenium comes to mind here as well as most of the early versions of Windows 3.0 ( 3.11 was OK BTW) and most versions of W98. Windows NT was truely horrible. Windows 2003 server and Windows 2008 server are good server OS'es.

XP has a certain elegant simplicity (if you customize the desktop sufficiently) and can be made lightning fast with a certain amount of tinkering.

However W7 is a great OS which doesn't need a lot of tinkering to get decent performance out of it. It works decently straight out of the box.

I don't like hugely cluttered desktops -- I know some - especially the youngsters like a load of gadgets and "Heavy Metal" type desktops == I like mine simple and clear but W7 allows decent customisation so that's not an issue. I do like the AERO interface and things like the new taskbar etc.

The only thing that puts me off is the rather large size of the Start menu and the fact that you can't customize / delete stuff from the Right hand side of the menu.

I'll still be using XP for a few years yet (mainly as Virtual machines) but on the whole I LIKE W7.

I don't know about deleting but I added a lot of stuff to the right side of the start menu, so I would assume it can be deleted as well. Check the start menu properties, customize. Lots of stuff can be added (or subsequently removed, e.g. run command to name just one). But I've heard if you add administrative tools, you can't just remove that one without causing it to be removed from everywhere. I think there is a work around for that one in the tutorial section.

My first Windows experience was Win 95, but I really liked Win 98. Win 2K was OK, Windows ME was GARBAGE!!! Windows XP was really really great! Then came Vista... (which some call Windows ME 2.0) But I personally had no problems with it, especially once the service packs came out and fixed a lot of issues. I like Vista, but Win 7 is what Vista should have been right out of the box. In fact I call it Vista 2.0, but that’s me.

At any rate I just upgraded to Win7 yesterday and I can say it's here to stay and I have no regrets.

Having 4 hard drives in my system allows me to run each OS on its own drive; thus I have XP, Vista, and now Win 7, which is now my main OS.

No regrets thus far moving to Win 7 :)

No I don't have any regrets going to Windows 7. I used both the beta and release candidate and had no significant issues.

I got a new PC and installed Win 7 over the Vista version that came with it. There are a few quirky things I'm trying to figure out but no real issues at this time.

Definitely no regrets here. Xp was good , Vista was better, and Seven is the Biz.

I got one world for those who are "regretting". Dual-boot.

Obviously it's too late now (well not really but u know what i mean) as you have already upgraded to W7, but yeh should've gone down the path of dual-boot...like most do.

Personally, even if i didnt dual-boot, i would still be happy woth W7 (x100).

All this statement shows is that you haven't gotten used to using the new UI things yet and/or put them to use, you cannot say that Aero Snap, Shake, Peek, enhanced alt tab, and a better taskbar are not improvements.
