    Ok

Is there any errors on the monitor or graphics card?

    right click desktop>screen resoloution>advanced>monitor tab-properties

then change to the graphics card-properties

When/if that fails go to the last tab and go throught the colour managment-advanced-calibrate display

Already set to the video card. My monitor is a Samsung 206bw if there are new drivers for it. Windows just installed them when I installed it but Samsung's website doesn't show any different ones.

This is a brand new install so there wouldn't be anything on here. Windows update shows nothing.

No optional updates listed. What would startup repair do? And why would it have been an installation problem?

You clicked "Check for Updates" yes?And looked in the "important" updates aswell, even if it doesnt look like its for the screen etc download it.

Repair the start up files, one of your drivers mightn't have loaded properly.

I have a feeling its a very simple problem.

When I clicked Windows Update it said no newer updates and did not list any optional ones. I will try the startup repair.
