Laptop freezes between entering sleep mode to being in sleep mode

    Hi,
I've had this problem intermittently on my laptop for the past 2 years however it has been occuring more often recently.

Basically sometimes when I click the sleep button on Windows 7, the screen fades to black as usual. However the fan keeps running (sounds like when it's on full load) and the power button light stays on endlessly. I always have to force shut it down and restart it.

    What can be the issue?
    Thanks.

    Hi joseph10444.

Such a situation may occur when some driver (mostly the PnP device drivers depending on the ACPI configuration) fail to response within a stipulated time period during the power state change.

Let us see some data. Upload your MSINFO32.nfo file.

    1. Click on the start button
    2. Type "msinfo32" (without quotes) in the search bar of the start menu, click the resulting link. It will open the System Information window.
    3. File>Save. In the "File Name" filed, put "MSINFO32" (without Quote), give the save location to desktop, and click the "save" button.
    4. Give the time for processing, it will save a .nfo file on your desktop.
    5. Zip it, and upload it following the instruction.

Upload the list of all the third party drivers Using NirSoft DriverView :

    • Download and execute Driverview
    • View > Hide Microsoft Drivers
    • Edit > Select all
    • File > Save Selected Items
    • In the Save dialog, Set the path to desktop, Put "Driverview" in the name field, and save.
    • Zip the .txt file and upload it.

Those files will give us a closer look to the issue.

    Hello,

I was actually going to post some updates, but you replied very swiftly. Thanks.

    First the updates
    ----------------
It eventually BSOD'd (I guess I was impatient all of the previous times this had occurred) with DRIVER POWER STATE FAILURE error.

From reading here, the guy said he ran something called "!irp" on the 4th parameter and it told him which drivers were failing? Does anybody know how to run "!irp"? I have the 4th parameter with me.

    Answers to your question
    ------------------------
    Attached are the files requested.

    Thank you.

Very good! Now as there is a BSOD at last please give us the files as per the BSOD posting instructions. You click on the button below ....

It will download the DM log collector. Right click on the application and run as administrator. It will generate a .zip file on your desktop. Upload the .zip.

    Hi Joseph.

The issue is caused by Logitech SetPoint Unifying KMDF HID Filter (c:\windows\system32\drivers\lhideqd.sys).
    Code:
     [ 16, 2] 0 e0 fffffa800d8de060 00000000 fffff8800a5e22ec-fffffa800d8de1b0 Success Error Cancel
Unable to load image \SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\LHidEqd.Sys, Win32 error 0n2
*** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for LHidEqd.Sys
*** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for LHidEqd.Sys
     \Driver\LHidEqd HIDCLASS!HidpFdoPowerCompletion
                Args: 00014400 00000001 00000004 00000002
And the driver is not outdated.
    Code:
        Image name: LHidEqd.Sys
        Timestamp: Wed Mar 19 05:50:53 2014 (5328E2E5)
It appears that the Mouse is newly employed and the issue started after that. If it is the fact, you may apply any other mouse and see the situation.

    Also disable USB selective suspend.

Thanks a lot for the help.

I actually recently purchased a Logitech gaming mouse (G500s) which I primarily use around the time of the driver time stamp listed, however it uses Logitech gaming software.

Alongside Logitech gaming software, I have Logitech SetPoint installed and running concurrently in case I need to take my laptop outside, at which point I use my logitech laptop mouse.

Since I will be primarily using the gaming mouse, I will disable SetPoint on startup, and see how that will help me. I'll also disable usb selective suspend. I will see if any problems arise, and report here.

    Thanks!
