PC will not boot. Startup repair keeps failing.

Every time I try to boot up my PC it goes to startup repair and fails to fix anything. Is there a way to do a system restore through the boot options (F8) or anything I can do to fix this? It wont let me even boot in safe mode without jumping right back to system repair.

    Any help much appreciated.

I have tried those now and nothing came of it. I am trying to re-install windows with the disc since it cannot repair nor can it do a system restore (only restore point available was from yesterday and it didn't work, no other saved points to choose). Now as I try to do the re-installation from the disc, the compatibility report prompts:

"The computer started using the Windows installation disc. Remove the installation disc and restart your computer so that Windows starts normally. Then, insert the installation disc and restart the upgrade. (Do not select "Custom (advanced)" to perform an upgrade. "Custom (advanced)" installs a new copy of Windows and deletes your programs and settings.)"

Which is the whole problem, I CAN'T start windows normally.

Are you booting from the disc, or are you trying to install from within windows ?

    Clean Install Windows 7

Do you see the words " Press any key to boot from dvd " on the screen ?

I do not see any way of opening the disc other than booting from it since it will not go any further than system repair (which fails) on regular start up

i would also prefer to keep my files and not wipe anything out. I am hoping this is possible so I can back up everything immediately if it is.

You should`ve already had your data backed up, or you should have made a disk image.

Copy & Paste - in Windows Recovery Console
