take a cautious look: 7 Reasons to Avoid Windows 7

Built-In Support for Egregious Hardware-Based DRM
Paranoid XP users won’t wish to upgrade to Windows 7 for the same reason they didn’t switch to Vista: Like Vista, Windows 7 includes support for digital rights management technologies that could potentially regulate how you use your media. Though some alarmists have
called Microsoft’s DRM “draconian,” the implemented DRM hasn’t proved to bear significant consequences yet.
Ars Technica provides a thorough explanation of the DRM in question. In short, the technologies called Protected Video Path (PVP) and Protected User Mode Audio (PUMA) provide secure playback of video and audio media, respectively. “Little or no media actually demands the use of the protected paths, so on most users’ systems, Windows never invokes them,” wrote Ars Technica’s Peter Bright. “Play back unprotected media on a Vista machine, and the DRM subsystems simply don’t get used.”
Still, there are going to be people cringing in fear that one day PUMA and PVP will screw them over. And for that reason they’ll be sticking with XP — or a totally open OS like Linux.

This is imo, typical misinfo. The parade of terribles that will never come to pass or will be easily circumvented in the event they did.
You wouldn't believe the stuff I download and play on my W7 machine with fantastic quality and zero problems. (However, I don't use Windows Media Player or Media Center, but not for those reasons. I simply get better performance and quality from other media players and filters.)

If you get a chance, read the link I posted. There's a great non-work-safe link in there about the iPhone. Holy crap, I almost pissed my pants laughing!
[WARNING] If you love the iPhone, you will not love the article about the iPhone!

There aren't any good arguments there. I upgraded from XP, and was happy to do a clean install! Cost, cost is not an argument someone should use in favor of a Mac. Taking time to upgrade? This is just an argument in general, nothing specific about Windows 7, if this was a valid argument we would still be using windows 3.1 or worse. It's still windows! Yes! It doesn't decide for me what to do when I insert media, rather it let's me decide... Good, I don't think every user of an OS would want it to do exactly the same thing in every situation.
Reading the second link now, looks like some good points.
